Welcome to Los Angeles by Bike

Let's Ride!!When I first moved to Los Angeles a few years ago, I didn’t have a bike. Last year, for Christmas, I gave myself a bike that I wanted for a long time, as a gift for myself–a folding Dahon.

After that, away and away I pedaled and rode. I also use it for my work commute; but prefer riding for recreation. Because it’s located close to where I live, the first trail I rode was the Ballona Creek bicycle trail. I found the trail online. After looking at the map, I thought to myself, “no big deal I can ride this easy!”

But, I couldn’t. Why?

Because I couldn’t find the entrance. So back to the drawing board I went–or more aptly, the PC. After digging a little bit further and doing more online research, I only found one website that had the proper directions to its entrance. For a city the size of Los Angeles–with its large community of bicycling enthusiasts–I was surprised by the lack of information, and accuracy of decent bike routes, mapped online.

Based on that, I created Los Angeles by Bike, to give the bicycling community what it wants, needs, and can use to overcome the dearth of useful Bike Trail information.

I’m including Los Angeles based maps using Map my Ride’s embeddable mapshare. I’ll be listing them by specific area and distance. If you want more information such as elevations, notes, etc., click through to Map my Ride to obtain it.

My hope is that you find the ride you’re looking for here.

If you have any suggestions about improvements, new routes, ranking routes, or any questions, feel free to use the contact page.

Thanks for visiting and happy riding!!
